Key Responsibilities
- Manage field operations and serve as the design authority for multiple simultaneous projects.
- Assist project managers in completing various tasks, including the development of instructional sessions.
- Conduct final quality assurance and quality control for geotechnical calculations, evaluations, and analyses.
- Perform site assessments to identify geotechnical challenges and gather geological data.
- Analyze and interpret geological data from various sources, including survey data, well logs, boreholes, and aerial imagery.
- Prepare detailed Scope of Services and manpower estimates for geotechnical projects requested by various stakeholders.
- Maintain client relationships on assigned projects and monitor ongoing work for adherence to schedules, budgets, and technical accuracy.
- Provide feedback on project successes and offer training and support to team members.
- Review and ensure the quality of geotechnical studies and deliverables produced by other team members before client submission.
- Draft and review Geotechnical Engineering Reports for infrastructure projects, including roadways and structures.
- Develop laboratory testing plans and assess laboratory results for soil and rock samples.
- Establish criteria and specifications for subsurface investigations.
- Review and correct geological logs, boring profiles, and related documentation.
- Evaluate drilling contractor proposals and statewide contracts.
- Assist in verifying drilling contractor quantities and invoices.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, resolve project-related issues, and participate in project meetings.
- Exhibit professional public relations skills when interacting with internal staff, clients, and the public.
- Adhere to established project schedules and budgets.
- Familiarize yourself with the company’s filing system within the first week of employment.
- Participate in company and departmental meetings as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in professional engineering services is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients.
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities are necessary.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Lpile, GSTABL, Driven, and GRLWEAP is required.
- Dependability, consistent attendance, and adherence to company policies are crucial.
- Experience with PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike is preferred.
- PE Licensure in PA is required or the ability to obtain it through reciprocity within six months.
- A valid PA Driver's License is mandatory.
