Position Overview: The role involves delivering specialized gastroenterology care to patients, assessing health issues, and implementing treatment plans in partnership with a pediatric gastroenterologist at MNGI.

Core Responsibilities: To succeed in this position, the individual must effectively execute the essential functions outlined below, with regular attendance being crucial. The responsibilities listed are indicative of the primary functions required; additional tasks may be assigned as necessary. Key Duties:
  • Provide care in both clinic and hospital settings supported by MNGI
  • Conduct initial and follow-up consultations with patients in collaboration with a gastroenterologist
  • Gather patient history, perform physical examinations, and provide educational support as needed
  • Document patient interactions accurately and promptly to ensure continuity of care and proper billing
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive coding and billing for services rendered
  • Initiate and oversee treatments for both preventative and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
  • Authorize prescription medications and handle refill requests within 24 hours
  • Review and approve laboratory results within 72 hours
  • Utilize formularies and guidelines to assist patients in managing healthcare costs
  • Exhibit proficient use of electronic health records
  • Apply MNGI disease management protocols in clinical decision-making
  • Adhere to MNGI Provider Education requirements, including onboarding and annual training
  • Coordinate inpatient video capsule procedures and other interventions as per current guidelines
  • Participate in weekend hospital coverage on an as-needed basis
  • Engage professionally and compassionately with MNGI staff, physicians, and external stakeholders
  • Complete additional tasks as required to support organizational needs

Education and Experience: Candidates must possess one of the following degrees:
  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Master's degree in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner designation
Licenses/Certifications: A valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license is required, along with applicable state licensure for MN and WI.

Maintaining BLS certification is mandatory.

While executing the duties of this role, the employee may be required to walk, sit, reach overhead, bend, and stand for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. The role necessitates dexterity to operate a computer and other clinical equipment. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may need to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds. Travel to various company locations may be necessary for staffing and training purposes.

In this position, the employee works in a clinical setting and may encounter hazardous materials or conditions, including exposure to blood or bodily fluids. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training will be provided. Daily exposure to computer monitors is expected. The employee may be required to travel by vehicle and may face varying weather conditions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee must remain vigilant to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
