Pediatric Gastroenterology Faculty Position

The Department of Pediatrics and the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on an academic track to enhance the Pediatric Gastroenterology team. This dedicated team currently consists of six Pediatric Gastroenterology physicians and two Nurse Practitioners specializing in the field.

Position Overview:

  • The role encompasses clinical responsibilities at M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital and associated clinics.
  • Additional duties will involve mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, engaging in clinical practice through M Physicians, and contributing to service activities for the department, medical school, and the broader medical community.
  • The ideal candidate will engage in research initiatives and other academic endeavors, either as a collaborator or as an independent researcher, and participate in faculty development programs tailored to their professional aspirations.
  • This is a full-time position (FTE).
  • Faculty members are expected to be active in their national organizations and foster an academic atmosphere for medical students, residents, and fellow faculty.

About the Division:

The Division plays a crucial role in hepatology and liver transplantation, hosting one of the oldest liver transplant programs in the United States. It is recognized nationally for its expertise in chronic and acute recurrent pancreatitis in pediatric patients. The research portfolio includes clinical studies focused on gastrointestinal complications related to cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, food insecurity, sarcopenia, and chronic pancreatitis. The Division is committed to excellence across its primary missions: patient care, education, and research.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric residency and a three-year fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure and DEA registration in the State of Minnesota, meeting the necessary criteria for credentialing and privileges.
  • Authorization to work in the United States. Note that our institution can process J-1 visas.
