The Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce is excited to collaborate with the Mayor's Office of Employment Development's Hire Up initiative. This partnership offers a chance to develop essential entry-level administrative and business support skills within a community-focused organization. Each temporary position spans six months, providing a significant opportunity for personal and professional growth while contributing to the advancement of Baltimore City's small business sector.

Position Overview: Operations Assistant

Embark on a rewarding career as an entry-level Operations Assistant, playing a vital role in the effective operation of the Baltimore City Chamber. This role entails providing program support and organization across various departments, managing inventory, implementing new policies, and collaborating with the Board Executive Committee to ensure operational excellence.

Work Environment: Primarily remote for general support; in-person attendance required for Chamber events (3-4 events per month)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support:
    • Assist in daily operations to ensure seamless business processes
    • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and workflows
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Provide administrative support, including document preparation, filing, and managing correspondence
  • Inventory Oversight:
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and manage supply orders
  • Policy Execution:
    • Assist in the implementation of operational policies and procedures to enhance overall efficiency
  • Project Coordination:
    • Support project management activities, including planning, execution, and monitoring
  • Board Engagement:
    • Collaborate with the Board Executive Committee and board members to meet operational goals
  • Special Projects:
    • Manage assigned ad-hoc duties and special projects from the Board Executive Committee
  • Website Management:
    • Update the Chamber website with new members and sponsorships, ensuring accurate information
  • Event Coordination:
    • Assist in organizing and managing marketing events, contributing to the success of Chamber initiatives

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Basic understanding of project management principles
