Job OverviewPosition Summary:

Giesecke + Devrient is in search of a Systems Integration Engineer II to become a vital part of our expanding Corporate team.

The Systems Integration Engineer II is responsible for ensuring that all essential software elements and production hardware are effectively integrated and operating efficiently to support data-centric operational production systems. This role necessitates the capability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technological challenges, configure and maintain production-related computing equipment, and provide support for a variety of industry-standard tools and proprietary software solutions. A strong customer-service orientation is essential, with prompt resolution of reported production issues, including occasional after-hours situations. Collaboration with other departments is crucial to ensure system uptime and prevent adverse effects on product quality and cycle times. The Systems Integration Engineer II also participates in security audits, prepares necessary compliance documentation, and continuously seeks to enhance processes through best practices. This position includes an on-call rotation, and the ability to work non-standard or flexible hours may occasionally be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative technical solutions, enhance existing designs, modify and test production-related software tools, and provide bug-fix support for operational equipment and production systems.
  • Manage and build Physical and Virtual Server Infrastructure (VMWare).
  • Oversee Storage Area Network (SAN) administration.
  • Maintain a Windows Active Directory environment, including group policies.
  • Install and maintain both Windows and Linux Server infrastructure.
  • Implement backup and restore processes, including disaster recovery planning.
  • Optimize and fine-tune performance of services, systems, and storage.
  • Conduct patch management for servers and server-based applications.
  • Administer central anti-virus management.
  • Install server-based applications and manage their health.
  • Manage server-based applications such as SQL, sFTP, Fileservers, Print servers, PAM, Encryption, and Web Services.
  • Monitor and manage audit logs, error logs, and system logs.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of servers, storage, and related applications.
  • Manage asset inventory of server infrastructure devices and applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, and server application issues.
  • Ensure security, integrity, and availability of mission-critical systems.
  • Lead projects in designing and reviewing system requirements for new applications and services.
  • Design and implement data centers in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Introduce new process improvement ideas and technologies to enhance business operations.
  • Administer basic databases and secure online service portals.
  • Plan and execute server upgrades, vendor patches, and vulnerability remediations.
  • Provide level 2 help desk support to resolve end-user problems and complaints.
  • Configure critical domain services such as DHCP, DNS, and NTP.
  • Report on key performance indicators such as SLA, compliance, and monitoring.
  • Create and maintain departmental documentation, network diagrams, system interdependencies, and end-user documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with software licensing and maintain vendor support.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus in service delivery, collaborating with vendors, partners, and clients as needed.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex systems and production processes effectively.
  • Evaluate, implement, and maintain production systems by studying requirements, conducting independent research, and soliciting operator feedback.
  • Maintain awareness of security requirements and adhere to compliance practices.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair services to keep equipment operational; follow vendor instructions and established procedures.
  • Conduct backups of production equipment, resolve security vulnerabilities, and support the monthly patching cycle.
  • Prepare product and system reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and data trends.
  • Assist with local site qualifications for new product onboarding and upgrades.
  • Provide effective customer service support for internal users and guidance for external stakeholders.
Working Environment:
  • On-site work is required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Provide level 3 support after hours as needed.
  • Conduct production changes and maintenance outside of regular hours.
  • Manage server and networking device installations.
  • Handle network cabling for servers.
  • Work in a secure environment.
  • Exhibit excellent work habits, including a collaborative attitude, punctual attendance, and appropriate attire.
  • Work performed in a light industrial setting; exposure to shop floor noise, with occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  • Willingness to work beyond regular office hours when necessary; limited travel may be required.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, and move safely around the facilities.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong technical skills with platforms including MS-Windows, Linux, SQL Server, and Oracle environments.
  • Able to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple communication protocols, networks, and operating systems.
  • Prior experience with hardware components including processors, circuit boards, routers, memory, storage devices, and databases.
  • Experience with physical and virtual servers, and complex automated production equipment.
  • Prior network and system administration experience with the ability to maintain existing configurations and design new cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively prioritize assignments with competing deadlines.
  • Experience with SQL Server administration is preferred.
  • Logical ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical challenges within complex data-driven configurations.
  • Strong experience with Active Directory, TCP/IP, and secure data communication protocols.
  • Willingness to document designs and present technical information in an accessible manner.
  • Prior experience in highly-regulated industries is preferred.
  • Consistent delivery of assignments on time, even with competing priorities.
  • Adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices to maintain product and company reputation.
  • Compliance with company policies and respect for privacy and security guidelines.
  • Self-starter with the ability to balance urgency with careful consideration and attention to detail.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related IT certification, plus 3 years of experience; or an Associate Degree with 3+ years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • Preferred certifications include Microsoft (MCSE), Cisco, or CompTIA A+.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Knowledge of payment card industry (PCI) requirements is an asset.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems, particularly in secure banking or payment card sectors.
  • University or College certification in computer science is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience administering Windows and Linux systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Storage Area Network administration.
  • Experience with Windows WSUS and Linux patch management is essential.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and associated network devices.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in VMware and/or Citrix XEN systems.
  • Basic experience with SQL administration is beneficial.
  • Project management experience with timely project delivery is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven interpersonal, analytical, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated team player with collaborative interaction skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with common client applications is beneficial.
  • Minimum 3 years of networking experience is required.
