Senior Accounting Specialist

Position Title: Senior Accounting Specialist
Client Sector: Heavy Machinery Manufacturing
Duration: 12 Months
Work Schedule: Monday and Tuesday: Start time is 6:30 AM (for team payroll processing)
Wednesday-Friday: Flexible start time
- Payroll Management:
- Execute and evaluate time, earnings, and deductions/withholdings weekly to ensure precise net pay.
- Guarantee adherence to union agreements and HR/unit regulations.
- Issue Resolution:
- Independently assess and resolve intricate payroll challenges.
- Engage with employees across various levels concerning pay inquiries, procedures, and training.
- Collaboration:
- Establish and nurture robust, cooperative relationships with colleagues, unit partners, and other departments.
- Clerical Accounting Tasks:
- Conduct complex clerical accounting functions involving both routine and non-routine calculations, analyses, reconciliations, verifications, and postings.
- Ensure precision and legitimacy in accounting operations with minimal supervision.
- Transaction Management:
- Oversee and process accounting transactions to support accurate financial reporting.
- Account Reconciliation:
- Reconcile intricate accounts, identify inconsistencies, and propose corrective measures.
- Month-End Procedures:
- Assist in month-end closing activities and prepare financial documents.
- Communication Skills:
- Facilitate communication within the department and with external stakeholders (employees, customers, suppliers) to share information, address inquiries, and resolve issues.
- Financial Reporting:
- Generate various financial reports as required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience with complex data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities.
- Quick adaptability to multiple Payroll/IT software systems.
- Positive attitude towards change.
- Ability to identify and implement process enhancements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Capability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Understanding of payroll and payroll taxation.
- Experience in handling confidential information.
- Familiarity with SAP.
- Experience with IBM/Host applications, such as TSO (Time Sharing Option) and RMDS (Report Management and Distribution System).
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a business or accounting field, or equivalent experience.
