The Grant and Contract Specialist II will provide administrative and financial support to the department, including pre and post-award grant administration, budget preparation, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of financial and administrative principles and be able to analyze and interpret financial documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management of pre-award administration, including advising administrators and principal investigators on sponsor guidelines and participating in application assembly and budget preparation.
  • Monitor regulatory and compliance requirements for sponsored research activity and maintain detailed files and tracking mechanisms for annual renewals.
  • Assist in analytical studies of existing or proposed clinical trials to provide economic basis for management decisions.
  • Monitor clinical trial funding sources, track revenue and expenditure activity, and identify variances.
  • Prepare data for financial reports, budgets, and research fund reconciliations, and perform analysis as required.
  • Work with administrators, principal investigators, and staff to resolve problems and optimize the use of funds.
  • Manage post-award grants and contracts administration, including monitoring budgets, expenses, and recovered overhead.
  • Assist faculty in finding possible funding opportunities and coordinate pre-award submission activity.
  • Monitor post-award activities to ensure adherence to sponsor guidelines and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of relevant job experience, or equivalent, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of enterprise financial products.
