Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY: The HR Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting various human resources functions within Steel Technologies LLC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Facilitate company-wide wellness programs

  • a. Assist in creating and disseminating wellness-related communications
  • b. Help design and execute wellness engagement initiatives

2. Provide assistance to the Talent Specialist

  • a. Oversee the complete recruitment cycle to fulfill staffing objectives across diverse business units
  • b. Support corporate and field HR personnel in recruitment and retention efforts
  • c. Monitor and report on essential metrics to evaluate staffing performance and efficiency

3. Aid in plant retention strategies by delivering quarterly data on recruitment, training, and exits

  • d. Conduct exit interviews for various plant locations as required
  • e. Present monthly exit interview findings and new hire feedback to relevant teams
  • f. Assist in preparing materials for HR, leadership, and managerial training sessions

4. Maintain the HR Portal for announcements, contacts, and essential documents

5. Support the HR team with audits related to benefits, wellness, payroll, and recruitment

6. Oversee the employee service awards program

7. Provide administrative and project management support for company-wide engagement and HR initiatives

8. Document all travel to Mexico

  • a. Register travelers with the appropriate consulate
  • b. Organize and file all travel documentation

9. Manage Employee Discount Programs

  • a. Keep updated records of employee discount programs
  • b. Address employee inquiries regarding these programs

10. Serve as a backup for maintaining corporate and plant security databases, including issuing/replacing access badges

11. Act as a backup for the corporate receptionist

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in various software applications, including UKG, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods
  • Competence in accurately retrieving and entering data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent written communication abilities
  • Capability to research, analyze, and resolve issues effectively
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with minimal supervision
  • Judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information
  • Familiarity with corporate wellness regulations and trends

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources. Relevant experience and training may substitute for formal education when competency is demonstrated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role is performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels from computers, printers, and personnel.
