Position Overview
The role of the Financial Aid Counselor encompasses providing guidance and support to students and their families regarding various financial assistance programs. This position is integral in managing the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students and parents in understanding and navigating financial aid options.
- Evaluate financial aid applications to determine eligibility for different programs.
- Process federal loans and assess student eligibility based on prior financial history.
- Act as a primary contact for graduate students participating in year-round academic programs.
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory, while a Master’s degree is highly desirable.
Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in financial aid or university administration, particularly in environments similar to Missouri State University.
Skills: Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable addressing groups. Strong organizational abilities and time management skills are essential. Additionally, a commitment to understanding and engaging with diverse populations is required.
