Job Title: Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Springfield College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Financial Aid to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Aid department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial aid processes and providing exceptional service to our students and families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service and counseling to students and families as they navigate the financial aid process.
  • Calculate eligibility determinations for student financial aid awards, analyzing US federal income tax forms and other financial documentation.
  • Counsel students, potential students, and parents regarding available sources of aid and eligibility requirements.
  • Assist students with their bills and budgeting resources.
  • Process federal loans for students and parents, as well as private loans for both students and parents.
  • Assist in overseeing the front office, answering questions as needed, and ensuring accurate information is given.
  • Utilize knowledge of the job and effective verbal and written communication to answer inquiries.
  • Foster cooperative relations both inside and outside the department.
  • Create an atmosphere that encourages students and parents to use the Financial Aid Office as a resource.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required with 3-5 years of directly related experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws governing awarding of student and parent financial assistance.
  • Program administration and assessment, specifically with loans.
  • Student and parent counseling techniques and guidelines with emphasis on confidentiality and empathy.
  • Student financial aid eligibility and requirements.
  • Computer systems utilized in designated area.
  • Presentation of information both orally and written.
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, and other customers.
  • Supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Effectively resolve problems.
  • Effectively communicate.
  • Manage time effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task with extreme attention to detail.
