Department Overview

The Americas Division ("AD") operates within the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch, focusing on corporate functions and the supervision of U.S. entities. Within this division, the Credit Investment Management Department ("CIM") plays a critical role in managing leveraged loan assets and structured product assets, including CLOs and MML Senior Financing, in accordance with the bank's lending policies.

Position Overview

This role involves supporting the Co-Head of the Department in strategizing and overseeing the execution of departmental functions with an emphasis on structured product investments. The incumbent will recommend objectives, policies, and plans while seeking to enhance efficiency and productivity within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with Co-Heads to develop and implement strategic business plans aligned with the Branch's objectives, guiding investment and portfolio management strategies based on comprehensive market analysis.
  2. Assist in managing departmental operations, including employee performance evaluations and compensation recommendations.
  3. Provide expert insights on investment guidelines and portfolio adjustments based on evolving market conditions.
  4. Ensure adherence to established investment guidelines.
  5. Facilitate negotiations with financial institutions and stakeholders to source new assets or manage existing portfolio assets.
  6. Oversee credit analysts, assisting in asset selection and investment decisions in line with investment guidelines.
  7. Plan and implement training and career development initiatives for departmental staff.
  8. Foster collaboration and consensus among various departments.
  9. Assume full departmental oversight in the absence of the Department Manager.
  10. Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  1. MBA or equivalent with over 10 years of experience in lending, or a bachelor's degree in finance or economics with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. CFA designation is preferred.
  2. In-depth knowledge of modern portfolio management theories and techniques.
  3. Proficient in executing client requests and conducting meetings.
  4. Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 applications.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  6. Strong understanding of the banking sector, particularly U.S. credit markets and related products.
  7. Contribute to revenue generation and profitability while managing expenses effectively.
  8. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and identify operational risks.
  9. Ability to lead and mentor a team, providing constructive feedback for professional growth.
