Position Overview

Fortress Investment Group is on the lookout for a Valuation Analyst/Associate to join its Credit Funds division. This role is pivotal within the Valuations team, focusing on the accurate assessment of private investments in the Credit Funds sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough oversight and detailed reviews of monthly valuations for the investments held by the Credit Funds.
  • Analyze internal valuations through various methodologies, including discounted cash flow analysis, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions analysis, collaborating with asset managers and investment professionals to comprehend valuation fluctuations.
  • Support ongoing portfolio analysis by evaluating complex financial models, key valuation assumptions, performance metrics, projected cash flows, and tracking significant asset events.
  • Prepare comprehensive valuation analysis reports, emphasizing critical findings. Compile valuation data and supporting documentation to create summary packages for review by senior management and the Valuation Committee.
  • Coordinate with auditors by collecting necessary information and managing documentation requests.
  • Assist in reviewing policies and procedures related to Valuation across the Credit division to maintain consistency and accuracy.
  • Foster strong relationships and effective communication channels with colleagues and external parties, including senior management, investment teams, asset management, fund accounting, and auditors.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in valuation.
  • Practical experience with private valuations, including both debt and equity.
  • A proactive, quick learner with a reliable and self-motivated approach.
  • Strong personal accountability and the ability to independently resolve issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with experience in presenting to senior management.
  • A focus on process improvement, with a proven history of implementing enhancements.
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously, while also collaborating effectively with team members.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and Wall Street Office is preferred.
  • Experience in alternative asset management, bank valuation, or as a marking agent is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret Credit Agreements is a plus.
  • Capability to construct discounted cash flow models is a plus.
  • CFA designation or progress towards it is a plus.

The proposed salary range for this position is compliant with local regulations, but it is important to note that salary is just one component of the overall compensation package. The total compensation may significantly exceed the base salary due to various factors, including bonuses, overtime, deferred cash, benefits, and contributions to employee retirement accounts. Compensation is influenced by individual performance, experience, geographic considerations, and the specific needs of business units.
