Overview of the Role
Fortress Investment Group is on the lookout for a Valuation Analyst/Associate to join its Credit Funds division. This position plays a crucial role within the Valuations team, contributing to the accurate assessment of the fair value of private investments associated with the Credit Funds sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough oversight and review of monthly valuations for the investments held by the Credit Funds.
- Analyze internal valuations employing various techniques such as discounted cash flow analysis, comparable company assessments, and precedent transaction evaluations, collaborating with asset managers and investment professionals to interpret valuation fluctuations.
- Engage in ongoing portfolio analysis by scrutinizing complex financial models, critical valuation assumptions, performance metrics, projected cash flows, and significant asset events.
- Compile and present valuation analysis results, emphasizing essential findings. Prepare valuation summaries and supporting documentation for review by senior management and the Valuation Committee.
- Coordinate with auditors by collecting necessary information and managing documentation requests.
- Assist in reviewing policies and procedures related to Valuation across the Credit Funds to maintain consistency and precision.
- Foster strong relationships and effective communication channels with colleagues and external parties, including senior management, investment teams, asset management, fund accounting, and auditors.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with private valuations, including both debt and equity.
- A proactive, quick learner with a reliable and self-motivated approach.
- Strong sense of ownership and the ability to independently resolve issues.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with experience in communicating with senior management.
- A focus on process improvement, with a proven history of implementing enhancements.
- Ability to take initiative and work autonomously, while also collaborating effectively with team members.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg and Wall Street Office is advantageous.
- Experience in alternative asset management, bank valuation, or as a marking agent is preferred.
- Capability to interpret Credit Agreements is a plus.
- Experience in building discounted cash flow models is beneficial.
- CFA designation or progress towards it is an asset.
The proposed salary range for this position is compliant with local regulations, but it is important to note that salary is just one component of the overall compensation package. The total compensation may include bonuses, overtime, deferred cash, benefits, and contributions to employee 401(k) accounts, which can significantly enhance the overall remuneration. Factors such as individual performance, years of service, experience, geographic considerations, and company performance will influence both base salary and total compensation.
