Job Summary

The Family Services Worker will provide services to families in the Head Start Center Based program, working collaboratively with teachers and other community agencies to provide a full system of care. This role involves case management, direct services to families, and outreach activities to recruit prospective families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide case management services to families, including direct services and assistance in determining family strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Work collaboratively with families and other community agencies to provide a full system of care, assessing services and making referrals as needed.
  • Coordinate services for families, arranging case conferences and coordinating with specialists, coordinators, and other field staff.
  • Conduct outreach activities to recruit prospective families and compile and maintain family case records.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly parenting meetings, assist with parenting classes, and provide parenting information for individual families as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and maintain a working knowledge of community resources and current trends in social services.
  • Build liaisons with other community agencies and work collaboratively with staff to provide comprehensive, integrated services for families.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in social work, psychology, child development, or a related field.
  • One-year case management or home visiting experience or working with at-risk families.
  • Experience communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, and working with a low-income, ethnically and culturally diverse population.
  • Experience working effectively as a member of a team and maintaining confidentiality as required by law and policy.
Working Conditions

The Family Services Worker will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with families, staff, and community agencies. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The worker will be required to travel to various locations, including Head Start centers and community agencies, and may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
