Our Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, providing critical care for thousands of children annually.

Key Responsibilities

Under direct supervision and in accordance with established protocols, the Surgical Technician will:

  1. Scrub in on various surgical procedures, manage surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges, and anticipate the surgeon's needs while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
  2. Prepare for scheduled surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
  3. Maintain a clean and safe operating room environment, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment, restocking supplies, and updating surgical instrument sets.
  4. Assist in the transportation of patients to and from the operating room, verifying patient identity and aiding in patient positioning for surgical procedures.
  5. May assist as a second circulator under the guidance of a registered nurse, and contribute to departmental education programs and policy development.
  6. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent training and experience.

2. Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.

3. One to two years of experience as a surgical technician is preferred.
