About Children's Hospital of MichiganChildren's Hospital of Michigan is a leading institution in pediatric and adolescent healthcare. Our surgical services encompass a wide range of specialties, including general, thoracic, reconstructive, and cardiovascular surgery. We utilize advanced imaging technologies tailored for children, such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI, to provide superior diagnostic services. Our Emergency Department is recognized as a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, equipped to handle complex cases.
Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the guidance of experienced professionals, the Surgical Technician will:
- Assist in various surgical procedures by scrubbing in, managing surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges, while anticipating the surgeon's needs. Maintain strict aseptic techniques and ensure all instruments are accounted for during and after operations.
- Prepare for scheduled surgeries by ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
- Maintain a clean and safe operating room environment, including sterilizing equipment and restocking supplies.
- Assist in the transportation of patients to and from the operating room, verifying patient identity and aiding in patient positioning.
- Support the surgical team as a second circulator under the supervision of a registered nurse, contributing to in-service education programs and assisting in the evaluation of new surgical products.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, along with completion of a DMC surgical technician training program or an accredited surgical technician program.
- Certification from the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
- One to two years of experience as a surgical technician is preferred.
