Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Surgeons and Anesthesiologists: Scrub in on all types of surgical procedures, handling surgical instruments, sutures, and sponges, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
  • Prepare for Surgical Procedures: Ensure that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use.
  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment: Clean and sterilize equipment, restock operating rooms, and maintain a safe and organized workspace.
  • Transport Patients: Assist in the transportation of patients to and from the operating room, verifying patient identity and assisting with lifting and positioning.
  • Collaborate with the Surgical Team: Work closely with registered nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
  • Certification: Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
  • Experience: One to two years of experience as a surgical technician is preferred.
