About the Role

The Detroit Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician to join our team in the Operating Room. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, handling instruments and equipment with precision and care.
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring a safe and sterile workspace for patients and staff.
  • Transport patients to and from the operating room, verifying patient identity and assisting with lifting and positioning as needed.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
  • Participate in departmental training and education programs to stay up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be considered.
  • Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) highly desirable.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a surgical technician preferred.
