Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electronic Resources and Discovery Librarian to join our team at Seattle University. As a key member of our library faculty, you will be responsible for managing and supporting the entire lifecycle of electronic resources, including acquisition, licensing, troubleshooting, and assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and expertise in the development of workflows and policies related to the electronic resource lifecycle, including electronic resource management practices in the integrated library system to facilitate access and discovery.
  • Electronic Resource Management: Manage workflows and communication related to the budgeting, purchasing, invoicing, configuration, and activation of new and renewing electronic resources, including trials.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with library colleagues to optimize discovery of electronic resources through the Library's Primo discovery system, Springshare's A to Z list, and other venues as appropriate.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot electronic resource access and holdings issues, working cooperatively with other library departments to resolve issues and communicate access status to users and library staff.
  • Collection Assessment and Analysis: Develop and maintain workflows for collecting usage data on both electronic and print continuing resources, providing usage data for and participating in evidence-based collection assessment processes to analyze, evaluate, and adjust library resources to align with the teaching, learning, and research mission of the university.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of demonstrated professional experience managing electronic resources in an integrated library system.
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in acquisition/licensing, access, and delivery of physical and electronic resources in an academic library.
  • Experience reading, managing, and/or negotiating information license and contract agreements.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform complex, detail-oriented work, and an aptitude for applying creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years+ with a combination of professional or relevant work experience in an academic library.
  • Experience with Ex Libris Alma and Primo VE, including Alma Analytics; EZProxy and Springshare LibGuides.
  • Experience with standards and services such as SUSHI, COUNTER, and data analysis tools such as Excel and PowerBI.
  • Experience in supervising and managing professional staff, including training, mentoring, and assessment.
