Immunology Laboratory Specialist

Become a vital member of our esteemed team at the University of California, where we are committed to pioneering advancements in immunogenetics, histocompatibility, and transplantation immunology. As an Immunology Laboratory Specialist, you will engage in a variety of essential tests related to organ transplantation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Executing and documenting laboratory analyses with meticulous precision; these tests encompass immunophenotyping assays and flow cytometry.
- Conducting quality assurance activities rigorously, in compliance with protocols established by manufacturers, departmental standards, ASHI, the State Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies.
- Entering and retrieving data accurately using the Medical Center LIS and UIC LIS systems, ensuring consistency as verified by supervisors or senior personnel.
- Completing CAP survey samples and competency evaluations accurately and within specified timelines.
- Utilizing and maintaining laboratory equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and laboratory standards.
Compensation:
$71.04/hour
Qualifications:
- Possession of a current, valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS) license.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Willingness to work outside of standard shift hours, including on-call duties and rotating weekends.
- Experience with molecular techniques, reference ranges, testing methodologies, and instrument operation/maintenance, along with familiarity with CAP and other regulatory standards.
- Understanding of pertinent disease states to effectively communicate the significance of test outcomes.
- Capability to perform testing, documentation, interpretation, and report preparation for ongoing research and development and method enhancement projects.
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively within a team environment.
