The Clinical Laboratory Scientist plays a vital role in executing a variety of specialized analyses within the clinical laboratory setting. This position is essential for ensuring the precision, dependability, and promptness of patient test outcomes, which are critical for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct a diverse array of biochemical, hematological, microbiological, and blood bank tests with accuracy and efficiency.
- Quickly identify and respond to normal, abnormal, and critical test results.
- Exhibit proficiency in clerical tasks and computer operations, effectively communicate results, and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
- Guarantee that test results are provided within designated timeframes.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow professionals and clinical staff.
- Engage in quality assurance initiatives and ongoing professional development.
- Oversee and manage inventory levels, assisting with supply management.
- Provide training to staff on laboratory protocols.
- Comply with safety and infection control regulations.
- Be adaptable to new duties and responsibilities.
- Follow established policies and procedures of the institution.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all procedures and equipment in relevant areas.
- Identify and rectify issues that may affect test accuracy.
- Perform additional assigned tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Specialized training for California Clinical Laboratory Scientist or California Specialty License.
- Previous experience or training in clinical laboratory science.
- Strong organizational skills and effective time management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
- Certification in Fire Life Safety Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Microbiology.
