Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to drive process enhancements, focusing on value stream management, quality assurance, and cost efficiency. This role involves leading projects and mentoring team members in extrusion methodologies. You will engage daily with production personnel to gather and analyze operational data, performing statistical evaluations to identify root causes of issues. The ideal candidate will facilitate process improvement initiatives across departments and communicate effectively with all levels of staff. Additionally, you will oversee cost reduction strategies, compile relevant data, recommend actionable steps, and monitor outcomes. You will also assist in managing the capital budget and prepare capital requests while ensuring adherence to company policies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support in the design and development of innovative processes and products, ensuring manufacturability and seamless integration.
  • Lead significant process improvement initiatives aimed at eliminating waste throughout the supply chain.
  • Interpret customer specifications, blueprints, and schematics to create technical extruded products.
  • Develop and implement training processes for peers in engineering and production, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with sales, production, and engineering teams to assess and implement process enhancements that yield optimal returns on investment.
  • Support the strategic planning of technical developments, emphasizing necessary process modifications for future projects.
  • Recommend process improvement methods and technologies based on manufacturing capabilities and requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers to explore potential process options and validate that external processes meet design specifications.
  • Assist in crafting technical specifications for upcoming projects and technologies.
  • Conduct Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) for new product introductions.
  • Perform process capability assessments to ensure processes can produce and transfer products effectively.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of plastics is preferred.
  • Significant experience in extrusion or injection molding is highly recommended.
  • Proven track record in process development.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing, extrusion, injection molding, and industrial manufacturing is essential.
  • A Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience in an extrusion manufacturing environment is required.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Solidworks is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and diagnostic skills are necessary for effective collaboration with customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial.
  • Willingness to engage in hands-on work within the production environment is essential.
  • Capability to travel to support product and process-related projects is required.
  • Experience with Six Sigma or Lean methodologies is highly valued.
