The Building Construction Products division (BCP) at Caterpillar is a worldwide entity focused on the design, production, and support of our compact, versatile construction machinery and Work Tools (attachments). Within our Clayton Machine Design Center (CMDC), our engineers and technicians deliver value to our global clientele by engaging in the design, development, optimization, testing, validation, and support of Caterpillar hydraulic systems for our industry-leading machinery, including Backhoe Loaders, Hydraulic Excavators, Small Bulldozers, and Skid Steer Loaders. Hydraulics are essential for the operation and movement of our BCP earthmoving equipment, playing a vital role in our customers' productivity. As a member of the Hydraulic Component Team, you will establish connections with suppliers and collaborate with fellow Caterpillar professionals to deliver hydraulic component solutions across all BCP product lines. You will enhance your expertise in various hydraulic components and circuits utilized in Cat machinery. You will have ample opportunities to tackle intricate technical challenges while refining your analytical skills and mastery of engineering principles. Initially, your focus will be on Main Control Valves, Hand Metering Units, and Hydraulic Swivels, with potential expansion into additional hydraulic components. Your experiences will encompass machine operation, international travel, problem-solving, and robust technical collaboration aimed at improving machine performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative hydraulic systems and component solutions.
- Implement original or inventive strategies for engineering design, cost reduction, and problem resolution.
- Collaborate with hydraulic component suppliers to gain insights into the design, manufacturing, and application of their products.
- Supervise the detailing and release of engineering drawings for the hydraulic components under your purview.
- Maintain CAD models for hydraulic components (utilizing Creo).
- Investigate and assess new technologies.
- Advocate for quality and a philosophy of continuous improvement.
- Enhance your understanding of Caterpillar products, technologies, processes, services, and systems.
- Experience: Extensive background in off-highway mobile hydraulics.
- Product Design and Development: Proficient knowledge of off-highway construction machinery and the capability to design, construct, and develop a new product from conception to production.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical abilities; the incumbent will devise and deliver solutions for significant technical challenges related to quality, speed, and cost objectives.
- Communication Skills: Ability to convey information, collaborate, and build trust across a diverse range of stakeholders, including customers, internal partners, suppliers, engineers, and leadership.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Advanced understanding of construction equipment operations.
