Position Responsibilities

As a Facilities Engineering Support professional at Caterpillar Inc., you will provide direct assistance to Facilities Engineering and Maintenance across the Facility Campus through the design and documentation of layouts, vendor coordination, project oversight, handling systems, safety protocols, ergonomics, and additional responsibilities as assigned. Your duties may encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Delivering facilities support to various locations as necessary, including equipment repairs, cleanliness issues, office enhancements, project management, and preventative maintenance of production machinery.
  • Creating detailed Scopes of Work that outline processing steps, component specifications, technical requirements for installations, and identifying facility enhancement projects.
  • Updating standard work schedules and relevant assembly procedures based on engineering feedback.
  • Generating necessary documentation for capital maintenance, managing both capital and expense budget accounts.
  • Applying Caterpillar Production System principles, including 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Reduction, and Standard Work.
  • Utilizing independent decision-making and problem-solving skills to accomplish job tasks.
  • Meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work efficiently.
  • Employing engineering prints and release notices to diagnose equipment failures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Developing layouts using CAD systems and determining material placements.
  • Utilizing systems such as CAD, SAP, and Team Center.
  • Engaging in cross-functional communication to complete tasks.
  • Providing updates to leadership.
  • Contributing as a team member.
  • Operating industrial equipment, such as forklifts and aerial lifts.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Essential Qualifications
  • 12 months of experience in Facility Maintenance, Mechanical, or Assembly roles.
  • Experience in Project Management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in blueprint reading and/or AutoCAD.
  • Technical degree or diploma/certificate.
  • Experience in Operations, Industrial, Maintenance, or Planning.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer systems and Caterpillar applications, including Microsoft Project.
  • Understanding of Assembly Planning Systems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in computer use with a strong math background.
  • Able to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Information

Shift: 1st

Hours: 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Monday - Thursday, Fridays as needed) Overtime required for maintenance and project work

Starting pay rate: $26.37
