Job Title: Technical Buyer

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Buyer to join our Procurement team in Freeport, TX. As a Technical Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing technical materials and services for our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the sourcing process for key contracts and complex negotiations to ensure the most competitive supply advantage for BASF.
  • Provide relationship management for key suppliers, including monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, and market intelligence.
  • Conduct market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry-relevant information and rationalize its impact on BASF.
  • Support the development of supply strategies for the North American region, working closely with sites and Procurement Category Management to develop and implement sourcing strategies for products related to this portfolio.
  • Successfully engage across the organization, working with all areas of BASF (Operations, Engineering, Accounting, EHS, Tax, etc.) and all levels of BASF, both global and regional.
  • Work with a wide range of suppliers and multiple levels within the supplier's organization to meet the needs of BASF.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, and/or Sales and Marketing.
  • Experience with contract negotiations.
  • Proficiency in market knowledge.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a multi-task environment and be team-oriented.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time (mostly within Texas).
  • Current possession or ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
