Production Specialist

About the Role:
The Production Specialist at SI Group plays a vital role in ensuring the execution of work in compliance with the company's ZERO EHS Impact Philosophy. This position is responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to implement production improvements programs, optimizing production processes and workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure EHS compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance
- Provide technical support to Production and all its personnel to troubleshoot equipment, improve processes, process controls (DCS), and related issues
- Develop and lead advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving processes
- Collaborate with Quality on chemistry-related issues and method formulation improvements
- Develop project scopes and process engineering packages for new installations and retrofit of facilities
- Assist in plant formulation, process safety review, SOP creation, process implementation, start-up support, and operator training
- Lead or assist in incident and near-miss investigation processes to mitigate risk or resolve
- Develop and revise equipment SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) on an annual basis to satisfy OSHA's PSM standard
- Participate in PHAs (Process Hazard Analysis) for existing processes as well as new product initiatives
- Ensure Management of Change (MOC) is adhered to and effectively executed for changes impacting production process, equipment, and instrumentation
- Support the development of KPIs and goals aligned with the PPMC; monitor KPI performance to identify support needs in addressing performance gaps
- Prepare technical progress reports on active projects and initiatives
- Satisfy all Corporate Quality Requirements and ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Partner to drive LEAN/Six Sigma, continuous improvement of processes and operations for increased productivity and efficiency (Operational Excellence)
- Actively participate in a culture of continuous improvement through collaborative engagement and by providing suggestions in meetings and trainings to improve processes and systems
- Ensure work is accomplished through defined, measured, and continuously improved work processes; proactively identify and leverage best practices developed across SI
- BS of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, or demonstrated equivalency
- 5-10 years of engineering experience in a chemical plant
- Experience in batch, semi-batch, and continuous processing & controls
- Chemical engineering knowledge including, but not limited to, an understanding of fluid transport, heat transfer, filtration, reaction kinetics, general process equipment
- High level of initiative and energy
