Job Overview

Position Summary: The Senior Completions Engineer is responsible for crafting completion designs and preparing cost estimates that are essential for internal and partner business planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subsurface, production, and drilling teams, as well as vendors, to formulate detailed completion procedures that adhere to regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Engage with Production and Subsurface teams to devise stimulation programs aimed at alleviating issues such as scale accumulation and water blockages in downhole operations.
  • Oversee the operational execution of stimulation programs and supervise coiled tubing N2 jetting for wells experiencing liquid loading.
  • Work closely with asset teams to identify and address production risks related to downhole scale formation or deterioration of completions and formations.
  • Provide oversight and support during the execution of completion activities, ensuring compliance with the Company's Management System and Management of Change protocols.
  • Conduct casing and tubing design, analysis, and integrity modeling to guarantee isolation and integrity throughout the stimulation process and production lifecycle.
  • Identify requirements for completion equipment, participate in vendor selection, and monitor vendor performance.
  • Generate well/project-specific Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs) and track variances against actual performance.
  • Maintain regular collaboration with the global supply chain team, drilling, production, reservoir engineers, geoscientists, data scientists, and HES personnel.
  • Handle monthly accounting tasks, including cost tracking, equipment inventory management, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for management reviews, peer evaluations, and technical committee meetings.
  • Take responsibility for both successes and failures, communicating insights to enhance operational efficiency and HES performance.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership throughout completion operations, participating in or leading incident investigations, vendor assessments, and safety meetings as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering is preferred; however, an alternative engineering degree may be considered based on relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 7-12 years of experience in conventional completion engineering or well servicing, with a minimum of 3 years in an Operator role.
  • Technical Skills: A solid foundation in casing and tubing designs, completion equipment, cased hole logging/diagnostics, and well servicing techniques, including wireline and coiled tubing.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with completion and well servicing workflow processes and software such as SAP, WellCat, WellView, and Nodal Analysis.
  • Experience with Cerberus or similar downhole/conveyance modeling software is advantageous.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Access).
  • Additional Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, self-motivated with a strong commitment to improving results, and excellent teamwork, planning, and organizational skills.
