Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced facilities maintenance specialist who values safety and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in various maintenance trades, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, general woodworking, and minor construction tasks.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this role ranges from $19.00 to $21.00.

Work Environment

While the maintenance office is located in Jamaica, Queens, travel to different sites will be necessary. A vehicle will be provided for work-related travel, although a personal vehicle is required to reach the work site or respond to emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Duties

  • Execute projects such as plumbing, carpentry, furniture relocation, deliveries, construction, painting, and general repairs efficiently.
  • Ensure work orders are completed correctly on the first attempt by following a logical sequence of tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness across facilities by performing assigned cleaning duties.
  • Review work orders prior to arriving at the job site to confirm all necessary materials and tools are prepared.
  • Uphold safety standards and take care of equipment and supplies to prevent damage and theft.
  • Occasionally assist with general cleaning and custodial responsibilities.
  • Be prepared to assist with snow removal when required.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prioritize tasks to address time-sensitive issues promptly.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to identify the best solutions for problems and communicate any delays or urgent reassignment needs to the supervisor.
  • Report any facility issues to the supervisor immediately upon discovery.
  • Work independently in the field while maintaining focus on assigned tasks and priorities.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to safely lift items and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • The position requires standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Vaccination is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of general maintenance experience in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, general woodworking, and minor construction is essential.
  • A valid driver’s license with a strong driving history is required.
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively is necessary.
