POSITION OVERVIEW

We invite you to consider a rewarding opportunity as an Ecological Specialist focused on Invasive Species Management within the Forest Health Division of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Ecological Specialist for Invasive Species Management will lead initiatives aimed at managing invasive plant species across state forest territories. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders and neighboring states to synchronize efforts in controlling invasive flora.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the invasive plant management program, ensuring effective strategies are in place to mitigate the impact of invasive species on forest health.
  • Develop and implement control measures tailored to specific invasive plant threats.
  • Monitor and assess the ecological effects of invasive species on forest ecosystems.
  • Foster partnerships with stakeholders to share best practices and coordinate regional management efforts.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time position with standard working hours.
  • Opportunity for part-time telework available under specific conditions.
  • Travel required for field assessments and stakeholder meetings.
  • Eligible for alternate work schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Two years of experience in forestry or related fields.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and training will be considered.

Special Requirements:

  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.

Other Considerations:

  • Residency requirements are currently waived for this position.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions is necessary.
