Job Summary

The Research Center Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Director of the Cancer Research Center at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC in Roanoke, VA. The incumbent will maintain a working knowledge of stakeholders, collaborators, and programmatic and administrative objectives to schedule and organize meetings, assist with purchasing and reimbursement requests, and generate travel and meeting itineraries for team members and guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex schedules of the Director and the Center, including receiving meeting and calendar requests and coordinating logistics for scheduled meetings, seminars, and events
  • Provide administrative support to senior administrators, including calendaring, complex scheduling, and supporting meetings
  • Identify speakers for the Center's programs and seminar series
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and curricula development for CRC-related programs
  • Interface with the CRC in Washington, DC for event and retreat collaboration
  • Represent the Center Director in meetings and projects as needed
  • Coordinate and book domestic and international travel arrangements for team members
  • Process financial and travel reimbursements
  • Screen and manage correspondence, inquiries, and reports

Requirements

  • Experience providing administrative support to senior administrators
  • Demonstrated program and project management skills and/or experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential matters

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience in higher education
  • Ability to understand and communicate Virginia Tech and FBRI policy and procedures
