Job Title: Part Time Research Coordinator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Part Time Research Coordinator to join our team at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the research activities of the Munson Lab, an interdisciplinary research group of engineers and biologists that study the impact of fluid flow in various pathologic conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination of research projects, including data management, literature searches, and preparation of research materials.
  • Provide administrative support to the research team, including scheduling appointments, preparing meeting materials, and maintaining records.
  • Develop and implement outreach programs to engage with the community and promote the research activities of the lab.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement training activities and mentorship programs to promote an inclusive environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the research team.

Requirements:

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to work with colleagues in a diverse and engaging environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and website building.
  • Experience teaching or communicating with non-scientific community.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Computational experimentation skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or degree in biomedical engineering, biology, or related field, and/or the equivalent level of training and lab experience.
  • Experience with basic laboratory skills.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Experience with ordering and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with reading of scientific writing.
