Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Family Support Specialist to join our team at the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in helping individuals and families access public assistance programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews with clients to determine eligibility for public assistance programs
  • Gather and review required documentation to support eligibility determinations
  • Participate in formal and on-the-job training to develop skills and knowledge
  • Track processing deadlines and case activity to ensure timely case resolution
  • Identify resources and make referrals to support clients
  • Operate computer terminals and personal computers to prepare and maintain case records
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Administrative work, clerical office work, or experience working with the public or public assistance programs may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
