About the Position
The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Social Services is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Financial Analyst I/II/III to join the Fiscal Division.
The Financial Analyst I/II/III will play a crucial role in all Fiscal Division activities, including grant oversight, extensive state and federal reporting, and managing substantial expenditure claims.
Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in budgeting and finance, demonstrating self-motivation, analytical prowess, and a keen attention to detail, enabling them to address business challenges and provide insights that facilitate timely and effective operational decision-making.
This position is part of a career series for Financial Analyst I, II, and III.
Under supervision, the role involves performing professional accounting and budgeting tasks that include establishing, analyzing, auditing, reconciling, and maintaining financial records in support of designated programs or an assigned division or department. Responsibilities also include providing fiscal administrative support in the preparation, analysis, and monitoring of the departmental annual budget and designated budgets and accounts. The role requires the preparation and auditing of various financial, statistical, and budgetary reports, statements, and records, along with other related duties as necessary.
The list of eligible candidates resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future vacancies, including full-time, temporary, and limited-term opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience:
A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
An example of qualifying education and experience includes:
Financial Analyst I: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, including 12 semester units or 18 quarter units of accounting. (Job-related experience may substitute for the required education, except for the required accounting units, on a year-for-year basis.)
Financial Analyst II:
The same as above plus one year of experience at a level equivalent to Financial Analyst I.
Financial Analyst
III:
The same as above plus two years of experience at a level equivalent to Financial Analyst II.

Pension Benefit and
Employee Contribution Rates:
The County's pension is a defined benefit plan that provides a guaranteed monthly pension payment for life based on your time in service, wages, and other factors.
The County is the primary contributor to the pension fund, but the health of the pension fund also depends on mandatory employee contributions.
Employees are required to pay a percentage of their base pay towards the pension fund, ranging from 5% to 19%.
