The Human Trafficking Institute (HTI) is transforming the approach to combating human trafficking, implementing a high-impact strategy that is effectively apprehending traffickers and safeguarding victims on an unprecedented scale. HTI has made remarkable progress in dismantling trafficking networks globally. Partner nations such as Uganda have achieved notable advancements, becoming leaders in the fight against trafficking with a 627% increase in traffickers prosecuted since HTI introduced its embedded expert model. As HTI enters a phase of substantial growth, this role offers a unique opportunity for a dedicated leader to significantly contribute to the expansion of this proven model and drive impactful, sustainable change in the global battle against trafficking.
Position Overview
The Grant Manager will be instrumental in securing funding to further HTI's mission of combating trafficking worldwide. This role entails the preparation and submission of proposals to individuals, private foundations, and governmental entities, alongside managing the reporting and compliance requirements for HTI's expanding grant portfolio. The Grant Manager will also ensure effective information management related to the grant portfolio within the CRM system, fostering strong connections between HTI's donors and field operations, while ensuring continuity of information for future team members.
Additionally, the Grant Manager will coordinate the efforts of team members, establishing timelines, activities, and outcomes for each grant, as well as delineating clear responsibilities for team members involved in proposal preparation and ongoing grant reporting. This position will draft and prepare necessary documentation and fulfill other funder-assigned tasks to ensure compliance with donor requirements and expectations.
The Grant Manager will oversee a successful proposal process, ensuring the submission of high-quality proposals that accurately reflect HTI's initiatives. This role will enhance the organization's capacity to pursue new opportunities within the philanthropic sector while leveraging relationships with both existing and prospective funders for ongoing support. This position reports to the Vice President of Advancement and collaborates closely with various teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify potential funding opportunities, assessing eligibility criteria for grants that could support HTI's mission.
- Oversee the proposal preparation process organization-wide by creating timelines, defining roles, and ensuring all staff are informed and supported in their contributions to proposal development.
- Manage proposal documentation, including letters of interest, project narratives, timelines, monitoring and evaluation plans, budgets, and budget narratives, in collaboration with other HTI program staff.
- Facilitate the Revenue Opportunity Evaluation process for new funding opportunities to ensure alignment with HTI's strategic objectives and secure organizational approval for proposals.
- Draft, revise, and edit all proposal documents, including executive summaries, conclusions, and organizational credentials as necessary.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders at private foundations, fostering deeper engagement and trust with HTI.
- Lead the submission process for U.S. Government grants, including quarterly reporting and management of government grant platforms, with support from the VP of Programs and VP of Advancement.
- Maintain document systems to enhance team collaboration and manage records related to proposals.
- Oversee HTI's grant platform accounts.
- Keep detailed records and documentation of all grant activities within the HTI CRM.
- Manage funder relationships, including participation in calls and meetings to provide program updates and deepen engagement where appropriate.
- Assist in coordinating site visits and funder trips as necessary, managing logistics and preparing the HTI team to meet expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of relevant writing and grant management experience preferred.
- Proficiency in CRM software and advanced skills in MS Office.
- Experience in drafting grant proposals for government entities, foundations, and private individuals.
Additional Skills
- Familiarity with federal grant processes, practices, and platforms such as System for Award Management (SAM), SAMS-Domestic, MyGrants, and Payment Management System (PMS) preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
