Job Summary

The Associate Director of Development and Donor Engagement will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to expand philanthropic support for the Biomedical Science Careers Program (BSCP). This role will independently drive all development and donor engagement efforts, coordinating the participation of Board members, staff, and other stakeholders in generating resources for BSCP.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and launch a development strategy to grow revenue and relationships in a sustainable way aligned with industry standards and best practices.
  • Lead the day-to-day activities required to secure philanthropic funding for BSCP, including identifying potential funding opportunities and developing donor materials.
  • Develop and manage the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities for all donors, creating and implementing a calendar of activities for each funder.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the development committee for the BSCP Board of Directors, leading engagement of Board members around their own giving and determining fundraising goals, opportunities, and priorities.
  • Lead strategy creation and implementation for all fundraising events, including the annual Evening of Hope gala, coordinating involvement of the Board development committee, event co-chairs, and host committee members.
  • Conduct research on prospective funders, including potential connections to BSCP and its volunteers/Board.
  • Manage submission of proposals and grant requests for funders, as required.
  • Drive collaboration with the DICP in identifying funding across co-sponsored programs.
  • Act as primary point of contact for funding, donations, and fundraising campaign inquiries.
  • Manage the acquisition and deployment of BSCP's new donor-management software, including development and implementation of standard operating procedures and smooth and efficient gift processing, acknowledgments, and reporting.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and listening skills.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively, to develop new ideas, and to gain stakeholder buy-in.
  • High level of independent judgment, initiative, accountability, and flexibility.
  • Possesses a sophisticated understanding of planned giving outreach, solicitation, and stewardship approaches.
  • Experienced writer with keen attention to detail.
  • Organized and comfortable working with CRMs to maintain detailed donor records and pull and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with internal teams, administrators, volunteers, and donors to advance engagement and fundraising goals.
  • Seeking a candidate with strong interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion and STEM education.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
