As a SATCOM Field Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing On-the-Job Training (OJT) on satellite communication operations, maintenance, and system repairs. Your expertise will be vital in supporting high-stakes projects for the US Navy, where creativity and collaboration are essential.


Key Responsibilities


In this position, you will:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for various systems including AN/WSC-9(V) NMT, GBS, C-12509 TDMA TIP, and SHF Communication Systems.
  • Deliver OJT on SATCOM operations, maintenance, and repair processes.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute System Operational Verification Testing (SOVT).
  • Identify and report design, reliability, and maintenance issues to program management.
  • Assist with new system installations, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and products.
  • Establish testing protocols and standards, providing guidance to engineers and technicians.
  • Test system interoperability, measure outputs, troubleshoot issues, and maintain detailed repair documentation.
  • Provide innovative solutions to complex operational challenges.
  • Lead project tasks, including planning, execution, and oversight of staff.
  • Direct the work of team members and foster a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • An active Secret clearance.
  • US Citizenship.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • A successful background check and drug screening.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or a High School Diploma/GED with 4 additional years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The capability to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair SATCOM systems independently and in team settings.
  • The ability to address situations where standard procedures have not resolved issues.
  • Prompt responsiveness to technical support requests.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Additional desired qualifications include:

  • An active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Trade school or military training in fields such as industrial engineering, electronics technology, or computer science.
  • Experience in Navy SATCOM troubleshooting and customer service, providing technical support in various engineering domains.
  • Experience with satellite communication systems in shipboard, submarine, and shore-based environments.
