Position Summary:

The Utilities Operations Maintenance Specialist serves as the key liaison between the Maintenance Department and Utilities Operations. This role is pivotal in facilitating and coordinating all interactions between the Maintenance and Utilities teams. The Specialist will collaborate closely with the Maintenance Department to efficiently plan and schedule tasks within the Utilities Department, aiming to reduce downtime and enhance equipment reliability.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally within heavy industry. Experience in the pulp and paper sector is advantageous.
  • Education: High school diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or equivalent qualification.
  • Competencies:
    • Ability to apply logical or scientific principles to a variety of practical challenges.
    • Fundamental math skills applicable to the role.
    • Knowledge of steam distribution systems up to 1500 psig, industrial boiler operations, boiler water treatment, steam turbine/generator operations, DCS and PLC systems (programming not required), and other utilities support equipment/systems.
    • Familiarity with process control instrumentation (pH, conductivity, flow, pressure, level, temperature, etc.).
    • Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on results and proven success in execution.
    • Effective communication skills for both internal and external interactions.
    • Ability to address common inquiries or concerns from operators, maintenance personnel, or supervisors.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS Project. Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
Additional Information:

The role may involve transitioning between an office environment and a loud, hot, and humid manufacturing setting, both indoors and outdoors. The position requires mobility throughout the facility, including the use of stairs, ladders, elevated platforms, and elevators. Normal vision or corrected vision to near normal is essential, along with normal depth perception and peripheral vision.
