The Manufacturing Process Specialist is a key role focused on various aspects of the Pulp and Utilities sectors.
This position is integral to ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the Pulpmill, overseeing the entire process from raw wood supply to the production of bleached pulp, as well as managing the chemical recovery cycle.
The individual in this capacity will collaborate with the operations team to enhance health and safety standards, ensure environmental compliance, optimize pulp production, maintain quality metrics, and manage operating costs effectively.
This role involves engaging with personnel, processes, and equipment related to the Woodyard and Pulpmill, utilizing various methodologies including Lean Manufacturing and 6S Principles.
Key Responsibilities- Gather, analyze, and leverage operational data to facilitate process enhancements.
- Assess and determine the viability of new technological advancements and industry best practices.
- Propose solutions for implementing best practices in operations, including recommending, justifying, and supporting Capital Budget initiatives.
- Participate in committees, task forces, and teams as designated.
- Assist in the development and refinement of operational practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) using sound engineering principles.
- Provide hands-on oversight and management of projects during both planned and unplanned downtimes.
- Assume supervisory duties within the Pulpmill as necessary during staff absences.
- Take on weekend on-call responsibilities on a scheduled, rotational basis.
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science is preferred. Other technical disciplines may be considered with relevant experience.
