Position Overview

Stellar Science is seeking talented individuals in the field of software engineering who possess a strong scientific background. We value developers who are passionate about crafting and sustaining high-quality, scalable code while embracing contemporary C++ methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to software development across various domains, including:

  • Computer vision and image processing
  • Image simulation
  • Modeling and simulation of high power microwave systems
  • Laser source generation and effects modeling
  • Atmospheric modeling
  • Computational electromagnetics (CEM)
  • Space domain awareness (SDA)
  • High-performance computing (HPC)
  • Computer-aided design (CAD) tools
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, science, engineering, or computer science
  • Extensive experience in software development
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design and C++ programming
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new programming paradigms and development processes
  • Enthusiasm for developing modern, high-quality C++20/23 code
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to undergo a background investigation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant field
  • Possession of an active security clearance

Additional Skills That Would Be Beneficial:

  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience with libraries like Boost and Eigen
  • Cross-platform software development on Linux, Windows, and Mac
  • 3D graphics development using OpenGL, Open Scene Graph, or WebGL
  • User interface design with frameworks like Qt, Java Swing, or Material UI
  • Knowledge of supercomputing techniques including OpenMP, threads, MPI, and GPUs
  • Experience in image processing, imagery analysis, or computer vision
  • Understanding of aerospace vehicles, orbital mechanics, and electromagnetics
  • Expertise in modeling and simulation, particularly in directed energy
