Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking a qualified applicant for a Systems Maintenance Crew Chief vacancy within the Facilities Support Division. This position will be a working supervisor over multiple crews in operating, maintaining, and repairing various facility systems, devices, and equipment in County occupied buildings.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) trades, with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Certification in Building Automation Systems is preferred, as well as prior experience implementing and overseeing a Preventive Maintenance Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely perform advanced, complex mechanical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of emergency power systems, HVAC, building automation, and other systems, devices, and equipment.
  • Review work orders, establish priorities, make daily work assignments to technicians, and schedule preventive maintenance work.
  • Coordinate the work of contractors as needed.
  • Conduct periodic mechanical systems inspections.
  • Perform administrative duties, including submission of all purchase documentation according to County and departmental guidelines.
  • Provide superior customer service at all times.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with coursework or experience in MEP trades.
  • Four years of related work experience installing and maintaining commercial mechanical systems, devices, and equipment, and including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • Certification in Building Automation Systems is preferred.
  • Prior experience implementing and overseeing a Preventive Maintenance Program is preferred.
Special Requirements
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
  • Hold or obtain a CFC License and Master's License (in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or plumbing disciplines) within six months of hire.
  • Subject to recall and/or being held beyond scheduled workday if required by County or departmental requirements.
  • Respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive.
