Role Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit. This pivotal role involves leading the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program, which encompasses strategic oversight of risk identification, evaluation, monitoring, and mitigation. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to formulate and implement risk management strategies and action plans. Additionally, you will oversee the Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance functions, serving as the chief audit executive and reporting to the Chief Legal Officer and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Internal Audit Program, developing a risk-based annual audit plan and budget to assess the effectiveness of controls related to financial reporting and compliance.
  • Work in partnership with senior management to address complex internal control issues and provide operational recommendations.
  • Manage the ERM Program, including strategy development, risk assessment, and mitigation planning, while analyzing data on organizational risks and trends.
  • Oversee the Corporate Compliance Program, ensuring adherence to privacy regulations and corporate policies.
  • Implement ongoing education initiatives for management and staff to enhance risk awareness.
  • Drive strategic execution by building effective teams and solving complex challenges.
  • Coordinate with the Audit Committee on meeting agendas and deliver comprehensive quarterly reports.
  • Support the company's issue management system and guide management in remediation efforts.
  • Facilitate ERM Committee meetings and provide strategic insights as needed.
  • Manage a team, including performance management and professional development.
  • Oversee departmental budgets and resource allocation.
  • Provide innovative leadership across multiple departments, fostering cross-functional collaboration for significant projects.
  • Select and manage external auditors, ensuring quality and compliance with corporate standards.
  • Evaluate operational departments to ensure compliance with recommended practices and propose enhancements.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in corporate risk management and internal audit leadership.
  • Experience in the insurance and financial services sectors is highly desirable.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA).
  • Advanced knowledge of financial and compliance standards in property and casualty insurance.
  • Proven ability to provide expert guidance to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and alignment with company goals.
  • Ability to navigate cross-functional environments with business acumen and critical thinking.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and foster a culture of innovation.
  • In-depth understanding of industry trends and the ability to adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in MS Office applications.
