Role Purpose:

We are seeking a Director of Enterprise Risk Management & Internal Audit to lead our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program. This pivotal role involves strategic oversight of risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation, along with guiding senior management on risk-related actions. Additionally, this position will oversee Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance, acting as the chief audit executive and ensuring alignment with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Internal Audit Program, developing a risk-based annual audit plan to assess the effectiveness of controls managing significant financial and compliance risks.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on complex internal control matters and provide operational recommendations.
  • Direct the ERM Program, including strategy formulation, risk analysis, and mitigation planning in partnership with senior management.
  • Oversee the Corporate Compliance Program, ensuring adherence to privacy regulations and corporate policies.
  • Implement ongoing education programs for management and staff to enhance understanding of risk management.
  • Execute strategic initiatives effectively by building strong teams and solving complex challenges.
  • Coordinate with the Audit Committee Chair to prepare meeting agendas and quarterly reports.
  • Support the company’s issues management system and guide management in remediation efforts.
  • Facilitate ERM Committee meetings and provide strategic insights as needed.
  • Manage a team, focusing on performance management and professional development.
  • Administer departmental budgets and resources efficiently.
  • Offer innovative leadership across departments to garner support for significant projects and improvements.
  • Select and manage external auditors to ensure quality and compliance with corporate standards.
  • Evaluate operational departments to ensure compliance with recommended practices and propose enhancements.
  • Uphold PEMCO's values and ethical standards in all actions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including leadership of an internal audit department.
  • Experience in the insurance and financial services sectors is highly desirable.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA).
  • In-depth knowledge of financial and compliance standards related to property and casualty insurance.
  • Proven ability to provide expert advice to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and alignment with company goals.
  • Ability to navigate cross-functional relationships with both technical and business acumen.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
