Position Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulates an engineering scope of work, advises on equipment selections, and engages in pre-construction activities.
  • Designs mechanical systems including central chiller plants, packaged units, split systems, air handling units, and variable refrigerant volume units.
  • Collaborates with various engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Creates preliminary design layouts for cost estimation purposes.
  • Ensures quality control of work produced by external engineering consultants.
  • Contributes to conceptual design phases for designated projects.
  • Conducts site inspections to validate equipment choices.
  • Performs essential calculations for projects, including heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, and ductwork calculations.
  • Works closely with Project Managers throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Executes Heating and Cooling Load Calculations and Title 24 Compliance assessments.
  • Delivers presentations to clients effectively.
  • Assists in the development, writing, and review of client proposal documents, encompassing both financial and technical sections.
  • Engages professionally with other departments within EMCOR.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • Undertakes additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Professional Engineering license is required.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in HVAC design and construction is essential.
  • Extensive experience with chilled water central plants is required.
  • Familiarity with OSHPD/HCAI codes is advantageous.
  • Ability to make independent decisions is necessary.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD MEP or Revit is beneficial.
  • Experience with Mechanical Codes and Energy Efficiency Standards is expected.
  • Proven track record in energy efficiency and performance-based projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Competence in writing technical proposals and reports is required.
  • Strong customer presentation skills and demonstrated sales aptitude are necessary.
  • Financial acumen, including cost modeling for proposals, is important.
  • Experience in developing technical and cost proposals is required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex documents is essential.
  • Must be capable of making autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is necessary.
