Position Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulates engineering scopes of work, suggests equipment options, and engages in pre-construction planning.
  • Designs mechanical systems including central chiller plants, packaged units, split systems, air handling units, and variable refrigerant volume units.
  • Collaborates with various engineering disciplines to ensure project coherence.
  • Creates preliminary design layouts for cost estimation purposes.
  • Ensures quality control over work produced by external engineering consultants.
  • Contributes to conceptual designs for targeted projects.
  • Conducts site inspections to validate equipment selections.
  • Performs essential calculations for projects, including heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, and ductwork specifications.
  • Works alongside Project Managers throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Executes Heating and Cooling Load Calculations and Title 24 Compliance assessments.
  • Delivers presentations to clients effectively.
  • Assists in the development, writing, and review of client proposal documents, encompassing both financial and technical components.
  • Interacts professionally with other departments within EMCOR/Mesa, including Operations and Project Management.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Undertakes additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Professional Engineering license is required.
  • Certification in Energy Management (CEM) is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in HVAC design and construction is essential.
  • Extensive experience in designing chilled water central plants is necessary.
  • Familiarity with OSHPD/HCAI codes is advantageous.
  • Independent decision-making capabilities are essential.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD MEP or Revit is beneficial.
  • Experience with Mechanical Codes and Energy Efficiency Standards is required.
  • Background in energy efficiency and performance-based projects is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are crucial.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in writing technical proposals and reports.
  • Strong presentation skills and a proven aptitude for sales.
  • Financial acumen, including cost modeling for proposals.
  • Experience in developing technical and cost proposals is necessary.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex documents is required.
  • Must be capable of making independent decisions based on experience and project needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential.

Compensation Range: $135,000 - $175,000 per year
