{"h2":{"text":"About the Role"},"p":{"text":"As a Wildland Fire Mitigation Specialist with Sarasota County, you will play a critical role in assisting with wildland fire mitigation programs. Your responsibilities will include conducting prescribed burn programs and mitigation efforts, as well as supervising burn team members. You will work closely with the Wildland Fire Mitigation Officer to plan, organize, and execute fuel reduction and fire prevention burns using environmentally sound practices.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist with the planning, organizing, and execution of fuel reduction and fire prevention burns
* Supervise burn team members during prescribed burns and other wildfire activations
* Assist with the development of yearly property mitigation plans
* Assist with database documentation of property mitigation efforts
* Consider the impact of severe weather events on managed properties

Requirements:

* Minimum of three years of experience as a Firefighter, Certified Prescribed Burn Manager, or Land Management responsibilities
* Possession of NWCG Firefighter Type II Certification and annual arduous wildland firefighter pack test completion
* Possession of Florida Prescribed Burn Manager Certification
* Completion of Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (S-290), NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800
* Possession of Wildland Fire Behavior Calculations (S-390) course within 18 months of employment
* Valid Florida driver's license
