Position Overview

The Sales Counter Specialist plays a vital role at our wholesale HVAC distribution center, which features a variety of equipment, parts, and supplies. The primary objective of this position is to deliver exceptional customer service within a sales-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Acting as a representative of Baker Distributing Company, ensuring optimal sales performance.
  • Engaging with internal and external sales personnel, vendors, and contractors.
  • Managing showroom displays and maintaining product inventory.
  • Addressing customer service issues with both dealers and end users.
  • Processing sales orders and actively promoting related products.
  • Assisting walk-in and telephone customers with sourcing and shipping inquiries, inventory management, and warranty services.
  • Researching product information to meet customer needs through various resources.
  • Organizing stock on shelves or racks and maintaining order in the sales area.
  • Utilizing suggestive selling techniques to enhance customer engagement.
  • Conducting follow-up sales or service calls to resolve customer inquiries.
Qualifications for Success

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Strong communication skills and a background in technical support, HVAC parts, and customer service/sales are essential, along with intermediate proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience in Customer Service, Data Entry, Estimating, Purchase Orders, Sales, and Shipping/Receiving.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a Counter Sales position, preferably within the HVAC sector.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment at a wholesale distribution level.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including sales acumen, problem-solving abilities, and a customer service focus.
  • Ability to work independently while achieving set goals and objectives within designated timeframes.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • A strong customer service orientation with the ability to cultivate long-term relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Proficiency in English to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
