Position Overview

Leads the repair operations within the designated department/category. Accountable for achieving the operational objectives of the department, focusing on Quality, Delivery, and Cost (QDC). Responsible for mentoring and developing personnel to facilitate both technical and career advancement. Promotes a culture of empowered teams and collaboration among department members to effectively identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Addresses inquiries, resolves challenges, and ensures efficient product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Guides team members (technicians) in repair order output, efficiency, and quality. Effectively manages daily operations of the assigned repair lab category(s).
  2. Establishes and monitors operational and quality performance benchmarks for team(s). Ensures that operational and quality performance is upheld through monitoring Safety, Quality, Deliverables, Cost, and Employee affairs (SQDCE), along with performance reporting.
  3. Provides technical assistance or utilizes necessary resources to address production challenges and/or limitations.
  4. Identifies and rectifies technical and procedural deficiencies to enhance operational performance, quality, and cost efficiency.
  5. Assists in recognizing new product capabilities by monitoring no-repair scenarios, outsourcing lab volumes, market trends, and emerging technologies.
  6. Collaborates closely with engineering teams and directors to advance product capability development and operational process standards.
  7. Responsible for evaluating team competencies and directing training initiatives to ensure technicians receive adequate training and development.
  8. Involved in the recruitment process for potential new hires, conducting performance reviews, communicating corrective actions, and managing the termination process.
  9. Works in partnership with inventory and purchasing teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels and components.
Continued Responsibilities
  1. Collaborates with account managers, product managers, and sales representatives to address any technical issues that may arise within an account.
  2. Reviews and responds to field quality concerns and field service reports (FSR).
  3. Partners with the Contract and Pricing team to assist in the development of repair categories and pricing structures.
  4. Provides technical training for account and product managers in areas of expertise.
  5. Delivers formal presentations for clinical management educational seminars and customer site visits.
  6. Creates technical bulletins and training documents for sales and customer communications.
  7. Travels to customer sites or trade shows as necessary.
  8. Ensures adherence to safety and health policies and procedures.
  9. Guarantees compliance with ISO goals and objectives and supports ISO requirements.
  10. Actively engages in the company's lean philosophy of continuous improvement, guiding team members to fulfill repair orders to meet customer service expectations.
Educational Requirements
  • Associate's Degree
Experience Required
  • 4 years of manufacturing experience or 3 years of experience in surgical device/instrument repairs, along with 2 years of supervisory or team leader experience.
  • Alternatively, 8 years of experience in surgical devices/instrument repairs and 2 years of supervisory or team leader experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
