Klaviyo is in search of a Senior Security Engineering Lead to become part of our security operations team. This role is pivotal in providing technical leadership in areas such as detection engineering, data processing and ingestion, threat modeling, attack path analysis, security orchestration and automation, as well as the development of innovative tools to elevate our detection engineering capabilities. You will be responsible for executing the strategy for scaling detection engineering and establishing metrics that reflect ongoing progress towards our objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable detection engineering systems.
  • Architect and implement data ingestion methodologies for our SIEM and Data Lake.
  • Establish telemetry data across various Klaviyo environments (platform, cloud, corporate).
  • Enhance and refine detection engineering processes and standard practices.
  • Create, test, and deploy high-fidelity detections utilizing signatures, anomalies, and models.
  • Deploy and optimize detection engineering technologies (e.g., SIEM, Data Lake, IDS/IPS).
  • Automate and formalize detection engineering workflows and playbooks.
  • Develop tools, integrations, and automations for detection platforms.
  • Conduct adversary emulation to identify detection weaknesses.
  • Collaborate with response engineers to support incidents and investigations.
  • Work with high-risk system owners to enhance visibility and detection coverage.
  • Mentor and guide detection and response engineers within the team.

Qualifications

  • Over 6 years of experience in security operations within modern cloud environments.
  • Experience in detection engineering within contemporary cloud settings.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, detection as code, infrastructure as code, and microservices.
  • Experience with ETL data pipeline processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM and Data Lake solutions (e.g., Splunk, Snowflake).
  • Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
  • Proficiency in programming languages for automation (e.g., Python, Go).
  • Knowledge of techniques, tools, and methods employed by threat actors.
  • Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR).
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Linux and Mac operating system internals.
  • Automation-first mindset in all tasks performed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a strong self-management ethic.

The compensation range for this position is provided below.
