Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Piping Stress Engineer to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. As a key member of our Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline, you will be responsible for performing evaluations for piping systems in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other codes as applicable to the specific evaluation being performed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex calculations and reviews of simple calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Review and prepare simple system/structural designs to ensure they meet project requirements.
  • Prepare documented design input for drawing production, including P&IDs and Master Diagrams.
  • Prepare specifications for balance of plant equipment and conduct bid evaluations for single components.
  • Prepare calculations to support economic evaluations and solicit data from vendors.
  • Prepare simple reports/studies and provide input to project budgets, schedules, and project work plans.
  • Communicate effectively with project team members and managers to convey technical information and present written technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Apply accepted standards and processes to assigned project tasks and complete work assignments within established schedules.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and provide guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in piping engineering and analysis.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • P.E. license.
  • Working knowledge of commercially available piping products and their application.
  • Ability to navigate a 3D CAD model.
  • Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software.
  • Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients.
  • Knowledge of pipe condition assessment.
