As a key member of our Piping Engineering & Analysis discipline, you will be responsible for performing evaluations for piping systems in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other codes as applicable to the specific evaluation being performed.
Key Responsibilities- Perform technical support on projects by preparing calculations, specifications, and component designs.
- Review and prepare complex calculations, specifications, and component designs.
- Review simple system/structural designs.
- Prepare documented design input for drawing production (i.e., P&IDs and Master Diagrams).
- Prepare specifications for balance of plant equipment.
- Prepare bid evaluations for single components.
- Prepare calculations to support economic evaluations.
- Solicit data from vendors.
- Prepare simple reports/studies.
- Provide input to project budgets, schedules, and project work plans.
- Monitor own work to ensure it is completed within budget and on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with project team members and managers.
- Presents written technical information in a clear and concise manner in all deliverables.
- Communicate with vendors via clearly written and complete specifications.
- Apply accepted standards and processes to assigned project tasks.
- Complete work assignments within established schedule.
- Mentor entry-level engineers.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program, with an emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, theory of elasticity, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.
- 3 or more years of relevant experience.
- Must have knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
- Knowledge of the design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- P.E. license.
- Working knowledge of commercially available piping products and their application.
- The ability to navigate a 3D CAD model.
- Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software.
- Knowledge of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients.
- Knowledge of pipe condition assessment.
